Light of Peace is a large-scale meditation and candle-lighting gathering for world peace, held at Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand. Thousands of people come together in stillness, light, and shared intention for peace and harmony.
2. Is this a religious event?
Light of Peace takes place during Makha Puja, an important Buddhist day organized by the temple.
While the ceremony is rooted in Buddhist tradition, participation in Light of Peace is open to people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
The main activities focus on meditation, silence, and candle lighting for world peace.
No religious belief, conversion, or prior knowledge is required.
3. Do I need to be Buddhist to join?
No.
Many international participants are not Buddhist and join simply for meditation, peace, and the experience of a meaningful cultural event.
You are welcome to participate quietly and respectfully in a way that feels comfortable for you.
4. Will there be chanting or rituals I must follow?
Some parts of the broader temple ceremony are traditional.
However, during Light of Peace, participants are guided clearly, and you may:
